Fashion Flash! Mantsho magic at SA fashion week

Mantsho (meaning Brutally Black) is a Sotho name that explains the roots of a young black woman, an exclusive fashion brand that is vibrant, bold and expressive.

When asked by iFashion, what her theme for Summer 08/09 was this is what she had to say:

"I'm inspired everyday by the contrasting elements that real women possess. The concept of 'militant femininity' is a fusion of the elements that the Mantsho woman encapsulates: she's hard but very soft, sexual, edgy but uniform and perfectly African.

This range was inspired by sexuality, war and the general craziness that's in the air - the politics, the economy, the anger and the suffocating confusion in our midst. It manifests itself through the clothes whether I like it or not.

I have collaborated with weaving company, Tie Weavers SA, in designing and manufacturing an exclusive range of fabrics for my summer collection which will comprise a twenty piece range featuring an array of full-lenght dresses symbolising spirituality, tailored skirts and jackets symbolising war, simple but complex suits symbolic of love and dirt, and flowing dresses symbolizing sex."
